Review of the First Year With Bees.

Exactly one year ago the garden beekeeper got his first young colony as a present. A suitable occasion to look back on the first year as a hobby beekeeper:

With the bees in the garden there were countless experiences and happy moments. To hear the humming of the beehives from far away, to observe and learn to interpret the various processes at the flight hole, to open the hives, to hear in them the constant buzzing of the bee colony and to breathe in that unmistakable scent, the breathtaking feeling of holding the honeycombs full of bees in your hands, the steady humming in front of the hive in the middle of the summer night, when the bees ventilate cool air into the hive, forming the first offsprings and following their development, marvelling at how precisely the bees keep to schedules, one can only admire nature in awe.

Then the first honey harvest, the honey-heavy and dripping honeycombs to be extracted, the many people who were happy about the jars given away, the first customers who were full of praise for the wonderful honey.

Finally, the much more intensive perception of the environment and the sharpened eye for flowering plants and trees: what one suddenly notices, what one had not noticed before...

The joy that the spark of enthusiasm has also been transferred to the garden beekeeper's son, who handles the bees with courage, trust and calm.

The garden beekeeper lives in a hectic everyday life, but the bees are like an oasis of peace for him. The time he spends with the bees is well invested, because every time it is a little break from everyday life.

Keep hold: The garden beekeeper is grateful for everything that he has experienced with his bees. A big thank you goes to his family, who have become, so to speak, compulsively happy fellow beekeepers, for supporting this hobby, and last but not least to his beekeeper godfather, who has always been at his side with help and advice during this year.

He now faces his second year as an hobby beekeeper and the certainty that there is much to learn again, because every year is different and has its own surprises and challenges.
