A Summer Blossom Dream.
Today the last harvest of the year 2014 and at the same time the first summer honey of the garden beekeeper was extracted in thundery weather.
While the early honey at the beginning of May and the beginning of June was golden yellow in colour and mild in character, the summer honey is dark brown and very spicy, almost like forest honey
in taste. Presumably this honey contains a high proportion of lime and chestnut.
Summer blossom in the city - a real explosion of taste! This aroma is a dream, the honey by far the garden beekeeper's favourite. :-)
The bees were visibly disturbed after clearing the honey rooms, they searched for their honey for a long time and in large numbers in the woodshed, but were not aggressive. They got the
honeycombs back for licking out (admittedly a weak consolation). In the next few days the feeding of the colonies for the winter with sugar syrup and the treatment against the varroa mite
begins.
The garden beekeeper is grateful for the unexpectedly rich harvest, and hopes that his girls will not be too resentful.
