Development of the Two Offshoots.
Two weeks after the two offshoots were formed, they have developed as follows:
In the one offshoot, which the garden beekeeper had given a hatchable queen cell, a magnificent queen hatched that very day. Today on 24.05. she has already laid eggs, diligently, the proof that
she has gone on her wedding flight and this was successful.
The queen hatched in the car and hastily given birth to the second of the two offsprings, which are only a few minutes old, was obviously not accepted by the colony. In any case, the following
day she was no longer in the box.
What had happened? Because the bees on the two brood combs had not even noticed that they had been taken from "their mother colony", and therefore they no longer had a queen, they probably
regarded the clogged young queen as a foreign body and probably killed her.
Instead, the bees only noticed her motherlessness later, and they then built three replacement cells with youngest worker queen eggs overnight. After 16 days at the latest, i.e. the day after
tomorrow on 26.05., at least one new queen should have hatched from them.
Edit 25.05.: The queen cells are open, and a newborn queen struts majestically around on the honeycomb, surrounded by her court.
The garden beekeeper once again marvels at the wonders of nature.
