What a Year.

What a Year.

Yesterday was midsummer, the longest day of the year. After the much too cool months of April and May, in which the bees could hardly collect nectar and the garden beekeeper had to feed, the honey chambers are now slowly beginning to fill up, while the summer lime tree in downtown Heilbronn has begun to bloom.

So the garden beekeeper does not expect a bumper crop this year, but with a little luck then some summer honey.

In the daily weight profiles of the hive scales, it is noticeable that the bees already fly out intensively at sunrise and on some days return shortly afterwards with significant entries.
