Summer Party.
Since days it is unbearably hot with 40°C in the shade. And the beehives stand in the blazing sun.
The bees collect water in the water trough and in the neighbouring pond, they distribute it on the honeycombs and create a permanent air movement with strong flapping of their wings. The
resulting evaporative cooling cools the inside of the hives to a constant 35°C in the summer heat.
Many bees stay in front of the hives. What looks like a relaxed party is part of the bees' climate strategy: Because if you're not in there you don't produce heat.
