A Name for the Queen.

A Name for the Queen.

If he was quite sure that the queen had survived the winter in good health due to clear indications, the garden beekeeper saw her for the first time on Holy Saturday, 19.04. In the hustle and bustle and with a still untrained eye, the search for the unmarked lady took some time and, in addition, once again brought a sting. She was sitting on one of the last of 40 honeycomb pages. Who finds the queen in the photo?

On this occasion he realized that it is high time to give the mother of the colony a name. But what name?

Regina (from Latin: regina, queen) would probably be a suitable name. However, due to the danger of confusion with a human being in the immediate vicinity of the garden beekeeper with the same name, let's say suboptimal.

Cosima would be another possible name, chosen in honour of the beekeeper godfather under whose care this queen was hatched in the summer of 2013.

The favourite of the children of the garden beekeeper is, however, unanimously Sabiene.

If this year three or four offshoots are formed from this mother colony as planned, then dignified names must also be found for their queens.

The competition is now open, comments with suggestions are welcome :-)
